Fallout 4 mod adds seasons to the game

We know that war never changes, but what about the seasons? In the world of Fallout, everything seems to be frozen in a bubble of time. Sure, crops grow, but aside from that, the trees and other vegetation remain exactly the same. Thankfully one creative modder set out to fix this little detail.

GameDuchess, the modder behind the Fallout 4 Seasons mod decided that we've all hand enough of wandering around the same, never-changing Commonwealth. They set out to create a more realistic game, which has multiple seasons, instead of one never-ending fall.

The mod adds a lot more color to the trees and plants, which might throw some people off. After all, in a post-nuclear holocaust, you wouldn't see a lot of plants blooming and thriving, right? Actually, GameDuchess spent a good deal of time looking at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which are the clearest examples of what the world might look like after a nuclear war.

Those places are extremely green and growing," GameDuchess explained, "with nature and animals there as much if not more than they were before the atomic bombs went off. And it's been far less than 200 years."

The unfortunate side of the mod is that it will not cycle through the seasons as the months change in-game. GameDuchess hopes that once the Creation Kit is released, they can change the mod to do exactly that. For now, you'll need to install the particular mod for the season that you want. You can download the mod from Nexusmods here.
