Facebook Stories may soon get a lift from Events integration

If you don't count yourself among the Facebook Stories users of the world, you certainly aren't alone. Taking a page out of Snapchat's book, Facebook rolled out Stories back in 2017, but since then, there hasn't been much in way of meaningful updates to the feature. That all might changing soon, as Facebook is at least toying with the idea of integrating Events with Stories.

Despite the litany of reasons to dump Facebook here in 2019, it remains a popular platform thanks at least in part to its usefulness in planning and notifying friends about events. What better way to buoy a Stories feature that may or may not be floundering than by leaning on that popularity?

That's what Facebook aims to do with a new test that's landing in the US, Brazil, and Mexico at some point in the near future, The Verge reports today. Once the test is live, users will be able to add event details to their Stories with stickers that friends can tap to learn more or express their interest in attending.

Not only will this bring some new functionality to Facebook Stories, but it'll potentially make it easier to get event details in front of more people. Obviously, there'll need to be an existing event page before you can add its details to your Story, but once that page has been set up, it sounds like it'll be fairly easy to drop its details in a Story update and get in touch with viewers who said they want to attend.

For the moment, we don't know when this test is scheduled to go live or if Facebook has plans to expand it to more regions after this initial roll out. The Verge's report says it should be available to mobile users on both iOS and Android, so in that regard, this little experiment will probably include a lot of people right from the very start. We'll keep an eye out for more details, but in the meantime, head down to the comments section and let us know if you can see yourself using Facebook Stories more after this feature launches on a large scale.
