EDAG To Show Off Light Cocoon Concept In Geneva

EDAG Engineering showed off a cool concept car at the Geneva Motor Show this year that was made using a special 3D printing technique. That car was called the Genesis Cockpit. At the Geneva Motor Show next year, EDAG Engineering will be showing off another cool concept car, this time the vehicle is called the Light Cocoon concept.

The design of the vehicle was inspired by a tree leaf. The car is covered with a fabric membrane that is stretched over a skeletal structure. The fabric is waterproof and is a material called Texapore Softshell from a company called Jack Wolfskin.

The waterproof fabric is very light said to be four times lighter than copier paper. A light inside the vehicle behind the fabric glows to backlight the skeletal structure of the car. The skeletal design of the structure of the car came from removing any parts of the body shell not needed to handle loads generated by driving.

It's unclear exactly what powers the car. EDAG doesn't talk about the engine of the car and it's unclear if the vehicle is an EV or if it even has an engine at all. The front end of the Light Cocoon reminds me a bit of a Ferrari 458 Italia in the headlight area.
