EA to release new cover art, game roster in response to Favre trade

I don't know if any of you keep up on football or not, but Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been dominating the headlines over the past couple of months. From talk of coming out of retirement to playing for a different team, all eyes have pretty much been on him. Well the dust has settled, and although he did decide to go back to the Packers, it was only for a short while, as he has been traded to the New York Jets. So what does all of this have to do with video games? He happens to be on the cover of Madden '09 in his famous #4 Green Bay Packers jersey.

EA has been quick to respond to the recent events surrounding the trade of Favre to the New York Jets. They have promised to do two things in order to make the game as true-to-life as possible. First, they are going to make a downloadable alternate cover which will feature Favre in his new Jets jersey. Second, they will have a downloadable roster update on August 11 which will appropriately place Favre in the New York Jets roster.

I have to say that I'm impressed by this swift reaction from EA. These are two things that they really didn't have to do, but they've decided to take the higher road and please the fans. A definite thumbs up for EA.
