EA Origin Access Premier subscription gets pre-launch games

EA is offering gamers a new PC subscription gaming option, Origin Access Premier, with the promise of all of the company's newest titles for a single monthly payment. The new package was announced at EA PLAY at E3 2018, and will include brand new games like FIFA 19 and Battlefield V.

Origin Access first launched back in 2016, as a PC version of the original EA Access subscription scheme for Xbox One. For $4.99 a month – or $29.99 per year – it includes more than a hundred PC games, though they're not typically the very newest titles. That has been a constant complaint by gamers, in fact, and something Electronic Arts has decided to address today.

Now, rather than back-catalog games, there'll be the option to play all of the newest titles. Indeed, EA promises, Origin Access Premier subscribers will get first play of its new games, before everybody else. It'll also include all the titles from the existent Origin Access tier.

"For the first time in a subscription, you're getting new games like Madden NFL 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield V and Anthem," Andrew Wilson, chief executive officer at the company, says of the subscription plan, "and full access to more than 100 games from EA and other publishers with a single membership."

Madden NFL 19 will be available for Origin Access Premier subscribers from August 2, 2018, while FIFA 19 will offer access from September 20. Battlefield V follows on October 11, while the new social Action-RPG Anthem isn't expected until February 15, 2019.

In addition, Origin Access Premier subscribers will still get the 10-percent discount on any Origin purchase they make. There'll be unlimited access to The Sims 4 – including, EA says, content from the Digital Deluxe Update, the Dine Out Game Pack, and the Kids Room Stuff Pack.

For that, EA is charging $14.99 per month for EA Origin Access Premier. Alternatively, there'll be the option to pay for a full year's access, priced at $99.99. New subscribers who aren't currently a member of an Origin Access plan will be able to get a seven day trial.

Pre-registration for Origin Access Premier will open today, Electronic Arts says. The subscription plan itself won't actually start until this coming summer, however.
