Does your MacBook Pro need more storage?

Kits created by OWC for expanding storage on a litany of legacy MacBook Pro and MacBook Air notebooks have been revealed this week. These pieces of hardware allow most any MacBook Pro or Air unit released in the past several years (back to mid-2013) to upgrade their internal storage with relative ease. OWC brings this Aura SSD to the masses not just for the newest in new – no! They've made way for generations of Apple notebooks to take part.

OWC includes a set of tools with every purchase of their new Aura SSD which allows the MacBook owner to upgrade their devices with the removal of just a few screws.

That means a Torx T5 driver and Pentalobe P5 driver are included in the box as well as an OWC Envoy Pro enclosure for Apple original SSD and an Assembly Manual and User Guide.

The OWC Envoy Pro allows you to use your original SSD as an external bit of storage – neato!

Installation videos like the one you're about to see show how relatively simple the process is.

These SSDs come in 500GB and 1TB sizes and size up at 3.5 in x 0.9 in x 0.1 in (8.9 cm x 2.4 cm x 0.4 cm). While the units are special because of their ability to be installed on a MacBook, they also work with Windows 7 or later PC.

The OWC Aura SSD Upgrade Kit – 500GB will cost you MSRP $449.99 or MAP$397.75, while the 1TB version will cost MSRP $719.99 or MAP $647.50. You can also purchase the SSDs without the tools, the 500GB costing MSRP $379.99 and the 1TB costing MSRP $649.99.

You can find the lot at OWC online, the full collection becoming available immediately if not soon.
