Disney Store carries no Princess Leia in its Star Wars collection

If you've been to a Disney Store over the past few months, you may have noticed an influx of Star Wars toys and products. Disney's acquisition of Star Wars wasn't the first time the two brands collaborated, but now that one owns the other, one must sell the other. It's come to our attention this week that Disney Stores do not – and have no plans to – sell Princess Leia in any way, shape, or form.

In what can only be described as a baffling occurrence, King's College London PhD student and Star Wars fan Natalie Wreyford received an answer to a query about Leia from the Disney Store Twitter account. Asking "why aren't there any Leia Dolls or Leia products available in Disney stores," Wrayford was told the following:

"There are no plans for Leia products at Disney Store, Natalie. Have a wonderful day!"

One would understand if there were also no other Star Wars toys at the Disney Store. One would even understand if there were a very limited selection of Star Wars toys at the Disney Store – maybe just a few Luke and Darth Vader lunch boxes, and that's it.

But no – there's actually quite a healthy selection of non-Leia products at the Disney Store online and in the real world. Darth Vader is here. There's a Stormtrooper, Yoda, Chewbacca, and Han Solo, too. Luke is here, but not Leia. Even the "Star Wars Collectible Figures" set made for Disney parks has no Leia.

To be entirely transparent here, there are two (extra tiny) places to find Leia in the Disney Store. One is on a T-Shirt called "Tee-Force" which also contains the heads 9 other Star Wars hero characters. Another is in the Star Wars LEGO Millennium Falcon – she comes as a mini-fig in the box.

But barring that, Princess Leia is the only main – major – character to not have representation in the Disney Store. Even C-3PO appears a couple of times – Darth Maul, too!

Furthermore you'll find the only direct male/female split in the Disney Store for Star Wars to be in costumes – where there are a couple of "for Boys" costumes but none "for Girls." PJ's, shorts, and a Swim Collection also exist "for Boys" with Star Wars branding in the Disney Store.

UPDATE: There is a "Vader's Little Princess" book by Jeffrey Brown in Disney's collection, and it is extremely cute. Bring on more Leia! Hit up the #WeWantLeia keyword on Twitter for more action.
