Disney Plus app update adds important playback controls

Disney spent months teasing its Disney Plus ("Disney+") streaming service, making its eventual lackluster app product particularly surprising. Though the service itself is great due to a combination of low cost and vast content, the app launched with the service left many users disappointed. Things are already changing, however, with the release of an app update that adds important playback controls.

Consumers have grown accustomed to certain streaming platform app features. Netflix is arguably the standard when it comes to streaming apps, though many other services have developed their own interfaces to robust levels, including Hulu and, to a lesser degree, Amazon Prime.

Disney's own streaming app has a long way to go to catch up, but at least users now have access to certain basic controls. In recent days, Disney pushed out a Disney Plus app update that added the ability to restart and resume content. As expected, these features mean users can resume a show they've already started watching or they can restart it from the beginning.

Users are also now able to queue content they plan to watch by adding it to a new 'Add to Watchlist' feature. As with the similar feature on Netflix, the 'watched' content can be directly found on the Disney Plus home screen, making it easier to find the next time the service is fired up.

The features started rolling out on select platforms late last week; it may take additional time for them to appear for all users across all platforms, so remain patient.
