Nintendo Wii becomes highest-selling current-generation console

Everyone in the gaming industry (maybe not everyone, buy you get the drift) in the gaming industry scoffed at the little guy in the current generation of gaming consoles. The little guy being Nintendo of course, with their under-powered Wii. Well now it officially sits as king among the other consoles, as it's the highest-selling current generation console.

According to the Financial Times, the Wii has now sold 9 million units, which puts it ahead of the Xbox 360 which has sold only 8.9 million. We won't bother talking about the PS3, it's almost embarrassing to talk about. (3.7 million)

What's awesome is that the Xbox 360 has been out twice as long as the Wii, and still the Wii continues to gain ground on it. I'm sure that the tides will turn a bit after the release of Halo 3, but it's cool to see the underdog on top.
