Sony drops DVD burning from their DVRs

Sony is all about their Blu-ray format. They're behind it so much that they have decided to stop supporting the regular DVD format on all future DVR systems.

That's right, if you want to put your saved movies and TV shows onto a disc, you'll need to have a spare Blu-ray disc handy. It's a good idea to put Blu-ray burners into their DVRs, but why can't they leave in the option of writing to a DVD? Granted, most people are going to choose to burn to Blu-ray because of its larger sise, but the backward compatibility is always nice.

What do you guys think? Would you be willing to drop the cash on a DVR with a Blu-ray burner with the possibility that HD DVD becomes the new standard? At least if it had a DVD burner on it you could still burn and watch your TV shows.
