DirecTV Nomad device rumored to stream movies and TV to mobile devices

If you are a DirecTV subscriber, a new gadget might be on the way that will liberate all of that content you have on your DVR at home and allow you to watch it from mobile devices. The box is rumored to be called the Nomad. There has been no official announcement of the device at this point from DirecTV. The existence of the device surfaced on a teaser page spied on the DirecTV website simply noting it was coming soon.

The little Nomad box is expected to be able to take all the content that you have DVR'ed and shoot it out to your mobile devices. That is really all we know about the Nomad at this point, everything else is an unknown. It sounds a lot like the Slingbox to me. Reports claims that the nomad would work with iOS, which would make sense.

I would expect if the device launches that it would also support Android at some point. It would be great to be able to access my recorded shows using my iPhone. I wonder if the streaming would require WiFi or if 3G connectivity would work too.
