Destiny 2 Gods of Mars will be the next big expansion

Big MMOs have had a rough last quarter this year. Star Wars: Battlefront II has just made life a lot harder for many games thanks to their loot boxes. And while less dramatic, Destiny 2's reputation was also tarnished by its first expansion, the Curse of Osiris. Bungie has promised to fix things, or at least some things, but fans may already have something new to wait for. The PlayStation Network mistakenly published details about the next DLC, titled "Gods of Mars" and the expansion will finally add a new enemy faction to the game.

According to the description, the Gods of Mars will center around Charlemagne, a Warmind, a.k.a. advanced military AI, that was long thought to have been destroyed along with all other Warminds. Except for Rasputin, who was already the first Destiny game. Coincidentally, Charlemagne was also supposed to be in the first game but wasn't included in the final cut.

Here's how the now removed description goes:

"Destiny 2 Expansion II: Gods of Mars sends your Guardian on a long journey to a brand new destination – the Frigid Vale of Mars, with an array of new missions, adventures, and enemies to fight. Charlemagne has reawoken on Mars and has imprisoned Rasputin within an ancient vault. Work with the elusive Ana Bray – long thought to be dead, in order to combat Charlemagne's Remnants, free Rasputin, and uncover the secrets of Clovis Bray."

The DLC will introduce what is perhaps the first new faction in a long time. While the appearance of these Remnants is still unknown, they are expected to at least not look like simple reskins of existing enemies. The game will also introduce new locations such as Charlemagne's Vault and Clovis Grove, along with themed weapons and armors to match.

Destiny 2 Expansion II: Gods of Mars is slated to launch, coincidentally, on March, on the month named after the god Mars. Hopefully, Bungie has learned its lesson the hardware with the Curse of Osiris not to make the same mistake next year.
