Dell set to ship XPS 17 and XPS 15 laptops with Sandy Bridge on March 16

Dell is set to start shipping new laptops in the XPS family that sport the Intel Sandy Bridge processors inside. Shipments are estimated to start on March 16 and there are many options for the two notebooks. The XPS 15 is very customizable with prices starting at $1049.99. That much money gets you a Core i7 2620M processor at 2.7GHz, 15.6-inch HD WLED TL screen, 4GB of RAM, 500GB of storage, and a GT525M with 1GB of RAM for graphics.

On the high-end the machine gets the same processor, a 15.6-inch FHD B+RGLEG TL screen, 6GB of RAM, 640GB of storage, and a Blu-ray drive with a 2GB GT540M GPU. The XPS 17 notebook has even more options to choose from with pricing starting at $899.99. Base starting models get a Core i5 2410M processor with higher end starting configurations using a Core i7 2630QM processor.

The starting configuration has 4GB of RAM, with high-end versions getting 6GB of RAM. Storage ranges from 500GB to 1000GB, and video card options include the GT550M with up to 3072MB of RAM. A Blu-ray drive is optional on the machines along with a 92WHr battery. Higher-end machines also get a 1080p 3D screen. Those higher end systems start at $1249.99.
