Dell Latitude XT2 multitouch Tablet PC launches

We weren't actually expecting it until tomorrow, but Dell have officially announced the Latitude XT2 Tablet PC.  The convertible ultraportable has a 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen, that can also be used with an EM stylus, together with up to a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV SU9400 processor with the Montevina chipset, GMA 4500MHD graphics and up to 5GB of DDR3 1066MHz memory.

Storage for the new tablet – which measures 11.7 x 8.7 x 1.1 inches and weighs 3.62lbs with the 4-cell battery – is up to 120GB of SATA 5,400rpm hard-drive, a 64GB ultra-performance SSD or up to 128GB of mobility SSD.  Standard connectivity is three USB 2.0 ports (one doubling as an eSATA), Firewire, gigabit ethernet, audio in/out, VGA, a 54mm ExpressCard and SD slots and WiFi b/g; you can also upgrade to WiFi a/g/n and there'll be a WWAN option too.

A separate battery-slice – when combined with the internal 6-cell battery – can push runtime to up to 11hrs in total; there's also an optional media-slice, which adds a second hard-drive and a DVD burner.  The display automatically switches between pen and finger control, and can respond to multitouch gestures like pinch-zoom and two-finger swiping.  The Dell Latitude XT2 Tablet PC has a starting price of $2,399.
