Rumor: Motorola Working on Jesus-Phone Replacement?

So apparently Motorola is working on a new device whose features are nearly unbelievable. However, not so unbelievable as its apparently making its way into final production.

So here is why it is unbelievable: 640×480 VGA (maybe touchscreen), 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 5MP camera with Xenon flash from Kodak, FM radio, 3.5mm audio out, and support for just about every single audio and video codec. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention that its supposed to be Linux-based.

Nikon COOLPIX P5100 and P50

First, the P5100 is an upgrade from the P5000 by about 2MP, the P5100 has 12MP and with the new EXPEED chip can reach ISO 3200. There is also better 12-face face detection and a mode dial that has 15 presets. There is a flash hotshoe, and a 3.5x optical zoom lens with optical stabilization, and apparently there are adapter lenses for telephoto and wide-angle shots.

The Nokia P50 is dialed down a little bit from the P5100, it still does a decent 8.1 megapixels. The image stabilization is done electronically this time though. The improved face detections and the 15 preset mode dial are inherited though. It also receives a lens with a slightly longer focal length, it comes with a 3.6x zoom lens.

SlashGear Review: Motorola MOTORAZR2 V9m on Sprint

No handset in the RAZR range has managed to capture the same excitement as that which met the original V3, and Motorola has been accused of resting on their laurels and relying on past glories instead of true innovation.  The MOTORAZR2, then, is part evolution and part attempted revolution; Motorola recognising that, while the same ethos of “slim & sexy” might kick-start design, these days you need true features if you want to win sales.  Sprint sent over their version of the MOTORAZR2, the V9m, and asked us to be honest about whether this descendant lives up to its heritage.

Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD1000 World’s Smallest 1080p Camcorder

Sanyo’s latest is a real beauty, and it shoots 1080p video too. It records in either MPEG-4 AVC or H.264 formats.

There is also a generous 10x optical zoom. They 2.7-inch LCD folds out (from where?) and allow you to view what you are shooting. You can also use the cam for 8MP still shots.

AMD Releases SSE5, Makes X86 Faster

So the processors using this new instruction set aren’t due to be released until 2009, but AMD wants to give people time to make compilers utilizing this instruction set and give programmers time to get used to/start implementing the changes.

So what changes for the programmers? First of all, instead of having to empty at least one of the two registers storing the two numbers to be operated on, before they can store the answer, they will now just be able to store it in a third, so less juggling.

Teenager Trades Hardware-Hacked iPhone For 3 More Plus 350Z

So, how does a teenager get a brand new Nissan 350Z, 3 Brand New 8GB iPhones, and a job offer as a consultant to a major cellular retailer? Hack and iPhone to unlock it.

Mr. Daidone, the co-founder CertiCell has traded a Mr. Hotz (screename?) the aforementioned list of items all for a hardware-unlocked 8GB iPhone. Apparently the 3 locked iPhones will be distributed among his financial backers and the gentleman who aided in the hack.

Olympus DSLR Is It Called The E-3 or E-P1?

Regardless of names, this thing looks amazing! Just from the picture you can see the flip out (and I am assuming rotational) viewing screen, the pop up flash and the 12-60mm lens.

On top of that there is an additional extended battery grip attachment, and possibly dual xD card slots as well as a CF card slot. The lens apparently uses the Four-Thirds lens mounting system which means Panasonic lenses should work as well.

Apple iPod Shuffle Seeing RED

So, Apple has a little shindig (who am I kidding, these things are never “little”) planned for September 5th. The announcements are expected to be primarily music based, as such, there is info running around saying that the only update to the Shuffle line could come in the form of a new paint job.

So they have the possible iPhone-like iPod being announced, a fat Nano that might rear its ugly head, and then what about the Shuffle? Well instead of leaving it well enough alone they are going to add the player to the PRODUCT (RED) line, so it’s a win-win, Apple doesn’t have to leave any of its line of players out of the announcement and they get to do some charity work.

LG KS20 – 3G Windows smart phone

So, we have our own visitor to IFA this year, as you may have heard, Vincent arrived in Berlin not to long ago. One of the products we are all kind of excited to see more about is the LG KS20, hopefully it will be there and our man Vincent can get us some more shots and info on it.

In the mean time, just for a little teaser, here’s what we have so far. It’s supposed to be a 3G Windows smart phone with a 2.8” touch screen. Its supposed the have the latest Windows Mobile software, version 6.0 for those that don’t know, HSDPA @ 3.6Mbps.

Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Windows Home Server

Apparently yet another device scheduled to be released at IFA this year, but we have some photos and a few specs for you now. With the Windows Home Server market slowly starting to add products to its line Fujitsu-Siemens has entered the ring with their Scaleo.

What we know is that there will be 4 internal drive bays, I have no clue how they will fit in there though. As far as ports go, you will have plenty of options for connectivity with 4 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 e-SATA ports.

Venturer SHD7000 – The first sub-$200 HD DVD player

I’ve always said that the war between Blu-ray and HD DVD will be decided by the cost related to each disc. When one of them reaches the point where any average Joe can afford them, then we’ll start to see a winner. That said, the first sub-$200 HD DVD player has been released.

60GB PS3 – Sony is out, get them while you still can

Those of you looking to get your hands on one of the cheap(er) 60GB PlayStation 3s should really get a move on. Sony has confirmed that they have depleted their own supply of the console and won’t be making any more.
