D-Link unveils extremely rugged DSC-6210 security camera

D-Link is a company that many probably relate more to home networking gear than anything else. The manufacturer also has a full line of cameras designed to connect directly to computer networks for video surveillance and other needs. D-Link has unveiled its latest professional grade security IP camera line featuring a new full HD resolution compact outdoor dome camera.

The camera is called the DSC-6210 and is very rugged within industry certified IK10 rating making it vandal proof. The camera also has an IP66 rated weatherproof housing allowing it to survive outdoors in even the most extreme conditions. The camera features a 2.0-megapixel CMOS image sensor able to record high-quality full HD resolution video and snapshots.

D-Link says that the high resolution is needed to ensure the clarity required to identify people, objects, and vehicles. The camera features a Power over Ethernet port allowing both power and connectivity to the network through a single cable. The camera can be powered by a 12 V DC connection for transportation or solar power for remote monitoring.

The camera features 10 times digital zoom capability and a fixed 4.3 mm, F2.0 lens. The camera also has an integrated microphone and supports two-way audio. Other features include the ability to store video on board using a memory card and more. The camera is available right now for $499.
