Comcast Xfinity X1 Amazon Prime Video integration finally arrives

Comcast is bringing Amazon Prime Video to its Xfinity X1 platform, the company has announced. The new support will give Xfinity X1 customers direct access to Amazon's video content, including originals like The Man in the High Castle. Prime Video will be supported by the platform's voice remote, as well, enabling customers to access the content they want by simply speaking.

Xfinity X1 is Comcast's platform for TV customers, providing them with access to high-end features, including voice and smart search, the ability to download DVR content for offline access, a robust sports offering, and more. The company has previously added Netflix, YouTube, and Pandora to its platform.

In its latest announcement, Comcast said it will be integrating Amazon Prime Video, enabling users to directly access the content without having to toggle to a different platform, such as a set-top box. As with the Prime Video service on other devices, users get access to Amazon's digital video rentals, purchases, and free streaming for Prime subscribers.

The new support will be available to all X1 customers, Comcast says. The Amazon Prime Video catalog will be integrated with the platform's existing on-demand and live content within the Xfinity X1 user interface. Subscribers will have the option of launching Prime Video using the system's voice remote by saying "Amazon Prime Video." Of course, it can be manually clicked with the remote, as well.

Comcast plans to add the new video option to X1 "over the next week," meaning some customers may be seeing it now, but others may have to wait a couple days before they get access. Comcast first revealed plans to bring Prime Video to its Xfinity X1 offering back in August.
