CitizenM high-tech hotel arrives in New York

In late March, it was revealed the high-tech and youth-centric hotel CitizenM would be making its US debut in New York, bringing with it the same connected features as its Amsterdam and London siblings. Perhaps its most interesting feature is the ability to control everything with a tablet.

Fast-forward a few months and the hotel has officially arrived in New York City's Times Square, bringing with it a design that is decidedly unlike most hotels. The target clientele are young and tech-savvy.

CitizenM aims to focus on a mixture of affordability and luxury, offering 230 rooms that are all laid out the same, with prices starting at $199 per night. With the room comes a Samsung Galaxy slate and features connected to the network.

The renter can use this tablet to control things like lighting, the curtains and other room features, and to also set pre-programmed "moods". The day time, for example, can be set to a business mood, but the night time can be switched over to "romance."
