Chicks'n'Vixens brings Angry Birds clone to WP7 as Rovio protest [Video]

Rovio has already warned would-be WP7 feather flingers that Angry Birds isn't expected to arrive for Windows Phone 7 devices until well into 2011, but one indie developer doesn't buy the idea that the company can't spare a few minutes of coding time for Microsoft's platform. Jabberworx's homage, "Chicks'n'Vixens", is a free beta in the Windows Phone Marketplace, and he reckons Rovio could easily have knocked out a WP7 version of the original in under a week.

"If I were Rovio and had access to the art and knew about the 2D physics engines settings for the various objects (mass, physics, restitution, etc) I could get Angry Birds running on Windows Phone 7 in under a week." Jabberworx

As alternatives go, Chicks'n'Vixens falls pretty much in line with what millions of gamers are familiar with from Angry Birds: you fire one animal (in this case chickens) into other animals (foxes) and attempt to use each bird's "special powers" to knock down a tower structure and progress through levels. Whether Rovio will see the challenge in the spirit Jabberworx intends it, or decide it's all a little too close to their own concept, remains to be seen.
