Casio XJ-UT310WN LampFree projector boasts 3100 lumens

Casio has rolled out a new projector that is aimed at the education market where short throw projectors are the standard. Casio's new offering can certainly be used in other markets if desired. The projector is called the XJ-UT301WN and it is billed as the world's brightest LampFree Ultra Short Throw projector. Native resolution is 1280 x 800 and it has an aspect ratio of 16:10.

Contrast for the projector is 1800:1 and it is able to throw an image of 50 to 110-inches. An 87-inch image can be thrown from 21.5-inches away from the projection surface and a 77-inch image needs only 18.8-inches. Support for 16.77 million colors is built-in and the projector has a mini D-Sub, HDMI, composite for video connectivity. A WiFi adapter is available as an option.

Casio's LampFree tech is able to eliminate one of the most annoying issues with many projectors. That annoying issue is lamps that have short life spans and are expensive to replace. The Casio LampFree tech uses a combination of a laser, florescent element, and LED light to create a hybrid light source that is good for up to 20,000 hours of use and has 3100 lumens of light output.

Casio fits the projector with 2GB of integrated memory to allow it to store file formats internally so no computer is needed for presentations. A mobile app is available for Apple and Android that allows the teacher to annotate presentation from the mobile device and capture and save. The app also allows a web browser to be displayed in real time. Casio's XJ-UT310WN projector will ship in Q3 2014 for $1999.99.
