Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer sheds more light on new characters

As the premiere for Captain America's next film draws near, Marvel has just released the second trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This time a bit more screentime is given to the film's other major characters such as The Falcon as well as the film's titular antagonist, the Winter Soldier.

Those already familiar with the Winter Soldier backplot probably won't have much surprises waiting for them, though it will be interesting to see if this film will have any twists or changes to the original story. For now, however, we are given some glimpses into the Winter Soldier's creation, particularly his augmentation with a cybernetic arm and the strength that it possesses.

We also get to see more of The Falcon this time. As mentioned before, this pairing is a throwback to one of the earliest team ups in Marvel comics history. We're still no wiser as to this current incarnation's origins or motivation for joining Cap's crusade, but it's curious to note that we haven't spotted The Falcon's iconic falcon pet hanging around.

The trailer stresses even more on Captain America's transition from soldier to captain in light of what seems to be a failed assassination attempt on Nick Fury's life. In particular, Cap faces the question of his true role as well as that of S.H.I.E.L.D. in building a better place, at the same time wrestling emotionally and physically with the Winter Soldier.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to launch in theaters on April 4th. While the basic story is not that of a big secret, things to look out for in the upcoming film will be hints and glimpses of future films in the franchise, in particular the next Avengers film.
