Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR targets entry-level photographers

Canon has announced a new gaggle of digital cameras this evening, among them being the latest entrant to its EOS Rebel product line, the EOS Rebel T5 DSLR. This particular Rebel is aimed at entry-level photographers, and brings with it an 18-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor and a DIGIC 4 processor.

As far as images and video go, the Rebel T5 offers Full HD 1080p recording with options for manual exposure, manual focus, and Live View. Still images are complemented by an improved scene detection system and an ISO range of 100 to 6400, expandable to 12,800. There's a 3-inch display around back for reviewing content.

As with most modern cameras, the Rebel T5 comes with so-called creative filters, of which there are offerings like Fisheye, Toy Camera, and a Miniature Effect. The camera will be available some time next month, exact date not yet provided, for the estimated price of $549.99 USD.

Said Canon's executive VP and GM of Imaging Technologies and Communications, Yuichi Ishizuka, "The EOS Rebel T5 camera is designed for entry-level DSLR photographers looking to expand their creative options and advance their photography skills. The improved functionality of this new EOS Rebel camera will help them do just that as it intelligently guides users on how to pinpoint their perfect shot and capture high-quality images and videos worth sharing."
