Canon EOS C200 and C200B cinema cameras arrive in August

Canon has taken the wraps off a pair of new cinema cameras, the EOS C200 and the EOS C200B. Both cameras are targeted at professionals, studios, filmmakers, and others in need of high-end videography content. Canon describes both models as offering high-end features with entry-level simplicity; both offer 4K video recording in two different 4K film formats, as well as a new image processor and more.

This marks the latest expansion of Canon's EOS series of cinema cameras, and they both bring a lot to the table. According to Canon, both the EOS C200 and the EOS C200B offer Cinema RAW Light and MP4 4K video formats, both of which are optimized for recording HDR footage. The cameras utilize Canon's new dual-DIGIC DV6 image processor, as well as the company's own Dual Pixel CMOS AF system. Users record video at up to 4096 x 2160 4K DCI.

Both cameras are largely the same, though the C200B model shaves some of the features found on the C200. The latter of the two models offer an OLED Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) for viewing shots, as well as accessories like a Handle Unit, LCD attachment, LCD monitor, and Camera Grip. The C200B model doesn't offer these accessories, nor the ECF, in other to 'optimize shooting using a gimbal' or drone, according to Canon.

Regardless of which camera you choose, you'll get an 8.85MP CMOS sensor, support for recording at resolutions ranging up to 4K/60p or FHD/120fps, both SD and CFast storage options, an ISO range of 100 to 102400, an in-camera ND filter, Canon EF Cinema and CINE-SERVO lens support, and over-sampling HD processing. The C200B model will be priced at $5,999 USD and the C200 model at $7,499 USD.
