Canon basic PowerShot A480 shown up in Europe

Canon has announced an affordable entry-level PowerShot with the introduction of a 10 megapixel A480 digital compact camera. Replacing previous model from their popular PowerShot A470, the successor is much compact and its layouts are more user-friendly, makes it more suitable for novices.

This pocket-size PowerShot houses a 10MP sensor, 2.5-inch LCD, Canon's DIGIC III processor; takes still image from its 3.3x optical zoom lens (37–122mm, 35mm equiv.); records motion pictures up to VGA resolution in AVI format; and packs with many advanced features such as Motion detection (anti-blur feature), Face Detection and 15 preset modes.

The Canon PowerShot A480 will be available in silver, blue, red or black from February 2009 in Europe with price at 129.00 pound ($209). US launch is not yet announced.
