Canon adds six new PowerShot cameras to line

Canon has announced that it has added six new point-and-shoot digital cameras to its PowerShot line. The new cameras include the G11, S90, SX20 IS, SX120 IS, SD980 IS, and SD 940IS. The PowerShot G11 is a 10MP camera with a 5x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization and a 2.8-inch vari-angle LCD. The camera has twin dials for easy access to ISO and exposure settings and supports RAW format. The G11 will sell for $499.99 in October.

The S90 is also a 10MP camera with a customizable ring control for accessing settings. The device has a 3-inch LCD and a full range of shooting modes including support for RAW + JPEG. The S90 will ship in October for $429.99. The SX20IS has 12.1MP resolution and a massive 20x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization. The camera can also shoot 720p video and has HDMI output. The rear LCD is 2.5-inches and it runs on AA batteries. It will ship in September for $399.99.

The SX120 IS is a 10MP camera with 10x optical zoom and image stabilization. The rear LCD is 3-inches and it offers an easy mode for fast and simple shooting. The SX120 IS runs off AA batteries and will ship in September for $249.99. The SD980 IS has a 3-inch rear touch sensitive LCD and is capable of recording 720p video. The camera has a 5x optical zoom lens with image stabilization and a 12.1MP sensor. It will ship in October for $329.99.

The final new camera is the SD940IS. It has a 12.1MP sensor, 4x optical zoom and image stabilization. The camera can record 720p HD video and has HDMI output. The rear LCD is 2.7-inches and the camera will sell for $299.99 when it ships in September.
