Call of Duty and Skylanders keep Activision in NPD's top spots for 2013

There's a couple of games appearing in NPD's tracking of video games for the end of 2013 that put Activision in a rather healthy spot for entering in this year's full range of releases. With Call of Duty: Ghosts, Activision sees the #1 Top-Selling Next Gen Title through 2013 – that's both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while it remains the best-selling title overall in December as well. Meanwhile Skylanders – as a video game franchise – won best-selling of the entire year for the kids video games category.

Skylanders – the extended series of games, that is – also won 3rd place for best-selling video game franchise overall for 2013. Note that each of these categories is wholly inside the United States and includes – therefor – English releases of games only. Both SKylanders Giants and Skylanders SWAP Force were also ranked inside the top 5 kids video games in 2013.

Call of Duty: Ghosts, developed by Infinity Ward, is working currently with the #1 spot for first person action game of the year for 2013 in the United States. This same title has the #1 spot for most-played multiplayer title currently on the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.
