BMW outs new 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

BMW has unveiled the new 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. The car comes in both a 228hp 228i xDrive Gran Coupe and a 301hp M235i xDrive Gran Coupe. The Gran Coupe models are designed to deliver styling and design with everyday 4-door usability and space.BMW fits the new models with the latest driver assistance tech, including Blind Spot Detection, Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Detection, and Lane Departure Warning. Both versions of the Gran Coupe are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with the 228i xDrive making 228hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The car can reach 60 mph in 6.0 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph on all-season tires, and 151 mph when fitted with performance tires. The BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupe has 301hp and 332 lb-ft of torque from a tuned version of the engine. It also features a reinforced crankshaft with larger diameter main bearings, new pistons, and modified connecting rods.

The M235i also benefits from a larger turbo and modified fuel injectors. It can go from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with the optional overboost function making the deed 0.1-seconds faster. The M235i also has a new standard mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential. The standard transmission is an 8-speed Sport automatic, the M235i gets special M Sport suspension standard, and that suspension is optional on the 228i.

Both cars can be fitted with an optional HUD projecting on the windshield. Paint options include two standard colors and eight metallics. Production on both Gran Coupe models is set to start in November. The cars will launch in March 2020, and pricing will be announced closer to launch. The public debut for the new models will happen at AutoMobiltiy LA in November.
