World of Warcraft Classic demo download and where to get it

Now that the launch of Battle for Azeroth has come and gone, longtime World of Warcraft fans are hoping to hear some new things regarding WoW Classic at BlizzCon this year. WoW Classic, for those who need a refresher, is Blizzard's return to the old days of World of Warcraft, as it'll revisit the game in its original state (or at least something close to it). Given the amount of excitement that some unofficial vanilla servers have managed to generate thoughout the years, it goes without saying that a lot of people are excited to see what Blizzard does with WoW Classic.

Blizzard has already confirmed that it will have a demo of WoW Classic available for BlizzCon attendees to check out, but it's now announced that it's going to take things one step further. In addition to making the demo available to in-person attendees, Blizzard will also grant virtual ticket holders access to it. The BlizzCon virtual ticket costs $50, allows users to watch live streams from the show, and comes with a number of in-game items for each of Blizzard's games.

That, of course, means that you'll be able to go through the same demo that's on the show floor at home. "Players will have a chance to explore and enjoy a limited questing experience through a pair of classic early-level zones — one Horde and one Alliance — and experience firsthand our recreation of the original Azeroth," Blizzard said in its announcement.

The demo will go live for virtual ticket holders shortly after the BlizzCon opening ceremony wraps up on November 2. It'll remain available until 10 AM Pacific on November 8, so virtual ticket holders will have access to the demo for just under a week, which should be enough time to play through both the Horde and Alliance zones. By keeping it accessible until November 8, Blizzard also ensures that people who attend BlizzCon in-person will be able to play the demo when they return home, as BlizzCon ends on November 3.

For the most part, Blizzard has been keeping the development of WoW Classic under wraps and dedicating most of its marketing efforts to Battle for Azeroth. Still, it's shared a few key details here and there, recently revealing that WoW Classic will be based on patch 1.12 – the last patch for vanilla WoW before its first expansion, The Burning Crusade, launched. Hopefully we'll get even more details at BlizzCon in a few weeks, so stay tuned.
