BlizzCon 2019 opening ceremony: Where and when to watch

Later today, BlizzCon 2019 will kick off, and many of us are expecting it to be a big show. After an underwhelming BlizzCon 2018, rumor has it that Blizzard will pull out the big guns this year, revealing both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. When you consider that we'll probably also see new announcements regarding World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, it should be a pretty big show.

Those much of the content coming out of BlizzCon 2019 – such as the various panels Blizzard plans to host throughout the weekend – will be locked away behind the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, today's opening ceremony will not be. That will be streamed live for anyone to watch, and Blizzard fans will definitely want to tune in because that's where Blizzard will be making its bmajor announcements.

There will be a couple of ways to watch the BlizzCon opening ceremony. The easiest way to watch is by heading over to the official BlizzCon website and watching the show there. That's also where you'll find the schedule, which lays out the panels and the numerous eSports tournaments that will be happening this weekend.

If you're more of a Twitch person, you'll be able to watch the opening ceremony there as well. Blizzard will be streaming the opening ceremony on its main channel, it's likely that all of the official channels for Blizzard's various games – those being StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo, OverwatchLeague, and BlizzHeroes – will be hosting the Blizzard channel while the opening ceremony is live.

The BlizzCon 2019 opening ceremony is set to begin at 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern, so be sure to tune in around then if you're looking to watch. This year's opening ceremony should be particularly interesting given the controversy Blizzard has found itself in the midst of during these past couple of months, so it may be worth tuning into the show for no other reason than that.
