Beyond Good and Evil 2 gets a fantastic new trailer, but no release date

Ubisoft's E3 2018 press conference is currently underway, and the company wasted little time in getting to one of its most anticipated games: Beyond Good and Evil 2. Ubisoft wowed fans when it debuted Beyond Good and Evil 2 during last year's show, and this year, it arrived at E3 with a fantastic new cinematic trailer. Unfortunately, the key detail that everyone has been waiting on – a release date – was nowhere to be seen.

Indeed, it looks like we'll be waiting a while longer for Beyond Good and Evil 2 to arrive, which might be made harder by the new footage Ubisoft unveiled today. It got things rolling with the new cinematic trailer you see below, which features many of the characters from the original title, along with the new ones who were introduced with last year's trailer. There's even something of a surprise at the end, but we'll let the trailer take it from here.

Ubisoft continued its Beyond Good and Evil 2 presentation by giving us a small taste of pre-alpha gameplay footage, but there really wasn't very much there to dissect. This is very much still a game in development, and that was evidenced by the next announcement Ubisoft made. Players will actually be able to contribute assets like art and music to be included in Beyond Good and Evil 2 through a new Ubisoft partnership with HitRecord.

HitRecord, as some of you probably already know, is a content collaboration platform co-founded by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Artists will be able to use HitRecord to create and submit assets that could potentially be featured in Beyond Good and Evil 2. If your stuff makes it into the game, you'll be paid for your work too, which is something every artist who has ever been offered exposure loves to hear.

All in all, it sounds like Beyond Good and Evil 2 is shaping up to be quite the game. Hopefully we can expect even more from the game at E3 next year, but for now, the stuff Ubisoft has announced offers plenty to unpack.
