Beoplay M3 is B&O's most compact wireless speaker

Bang & Olufsen has released its most compact wireless speaker thus far in its lineup, the Beoplay M3. The M3 model is a home speaker with a swappable front cover, making it possible to tailor the speaker's looks to your own home or office's design. Though compact, the M3 isn't an ordinary tiny Bluetooth speaker: it will still have a prominent place in whatever room you place it.

The Beoplay M3 was designed by Cecilie Manz; it boasts a pair of 40W amps, as well as a frequency range of 65 – 22,000Hz. B&O packed a bunch of features into the M3, including wired connectivity options for times when Bluetooth won't suffice. Users have the option of wirelessly streaming content via AirPlay and Chromecast, as well, while connectivity includes dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi.

The speaker measures a modest 11 x 15 x 14cm with an overall weight of 1.46kg. The unit is made with anodized aluminum, polymer, and Kvadrat wool; there's a black aluminum grill cover, as well. The device has a closed cabinet design.

The M3 is able to connect with the existing Beoplay A6, A9, and M5 speakers, making it possible to add the M3 as part of an existing multi-room audio setup. The device can be placed on any surface or can be corner/wall mounted. While the device contains some controls like volume, standby, and join, users can access and control it with the Beoplay App.

The speaker is available now for $299 USD.

Talking about the new speaker, B&O Play CEO John Mollanger said:

Our home wireless speakers are designed around the idea that sound should have a prominent place at home. It is about putting people before technology and designing speakers that earn attention for all the right reasons: immersive sound, a simple user experience and a design that adds warmth to the interior. Beoplay M3 delivers perfectly on this vision, and we are proud to extend the family with this compact yet powerful speaker.
