Beats Music streaming service opens up username reservations

If there's one method for firing up interest in a service early that's bound to work, it's sending out an open invite for users to register their username early. That's what the folks at Beats Music are doing this week with their upcoming streaming music service, readied for January of 2014, coming up today with username registrations in a wild west fashion.

CEO of Beats Music Ian Rogers let it be known today that the Beats Music service will be rolling out for real in January, come heck or high water. Speaking on how he'd joined the service earlier this year, Rogers suggested that they'd spent the time over the past year "getting Beats Music right" rather than "pushing it out the door."

It's made clear this week that the core of the Beats Music streaming music is made up of the massive Beats acquisition of MOG music last year. This means that they've got the technology already well in place, with the final release appearing with big input from the likes of Beats Electronics co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. This project also continues to work with Chief Creative Officer Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.

Facts:

Beats Music is real.

We're in an internal, private beta with people who know and love music (including a few of my personal heroes).

We're providing a few artists and other influencers access to familiarize them with the service and get their early feedback.

We're making improvements based on that feedback.

We can't wait to share it with the world, and are set to launch in the US in January.

The above list of "Facts" from Rogers outlines the way the service will be rolled out and how they'll be making changes and adjustments right out the gate.
