Axent Wear Cat Ear Headphones unleashes your inner feline

Have you ever wanted to look like a cat while listening to your favorite tunes? No? Well, apparently thousands of people do. Their dreams may just come true now that there's Axent Wear, headphones that creates a fusion of all your feline desires, your personal and social audio needs, and bright LED lights around your head. That is, of course, if you're willing to take the risk of putting your money in a crowd-funding campaign to stand out from the crowd in a stylish, or ridiculous depending on your personal bent, way.

These Axent Wear headphones are technically just that, headphones with a lot of style. They don't even advertise any breakthrough in terms of audio technology or any big name in the audio industry behind the speakers. As for those speakers, they are equipped with 40 mm drivers and deliver a range of 20 Hz to 20 KHz in frequency response. That's just about it when it comes to the listening experience, or at least what the makers are sharing on their web page.

But you aren't paying $150 just for the headphones. You are paying to have cat ears. Cat ears that light up. Cat ears that produce sounds. Yes, those ears aren't just for display. Quite ironically, since ears actually receive sound, not produce them, the cat ears double as loud speakers so that you can blare out your music in parties. Whether that is a good idea, considering how they are positioned close to your real human ears, is something left to be seen. Or heard. That said, there are over-the-ear cushions on each earpiece, which might help in blocking out some of the potentially damaging sound from the cat speakers.

As for other highlights, literally, the LED lights that accent the headphones come in four color options of blue, red, green, and purple, plus one of a kind custom paint jobs and changing LED colors, depending on how much you are willing to pay for the options. The headphones do not operate via Bluetooth and instead connect with a removable 3.5 mm audio jack and a built-in mic. Removable because you might want to replace the cable with your preferred line. Or just wear the headphones without actually using them to listen to anything.

As mentioned, this is a crowd-funded endeavor, on Indiegogo to be exact, so proceed at your own risk. A $150 pledge will get you one headphone in the color of your choice, but if you want all four you can pay $575. Or if you're really rich, you can go for the multi-color one for $10,000. The campaign has gone far beyond its initial $250,000 goal, roping in more than $900,000, so there is no more question whether it will get funded before its remaining 24 days are over. Whether they wlll be able to deliver on that, is, of course, a different question entirely. But if they don't, they will have almost 6,000 very irate backers (and their cats, perhaps) breathing down their necks.
