Averatec Buddy 10.2-inch netbook

Averatec have taken the wraps off of their latest netbook, the Buddy, with a 10.2-inch screen and Intel Atom 1.6GHz single-core processor.  As you might expect, the specifications aren't anything groundbreaking: 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard-drive and WiFi.

Say it with me: another case of netbook-by-numbers.  Averatec are hyping up their keyboard, describing it as "generous" for the netbooks compact size, but I can't imagine that it's especially different from that of other 10-inch machine such as MSI's Wind or the Eee PC 1000-series.  Perhaps with all that generous space you could have dropped in 3G, a fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth, eh?

The Averatec Buddy will be available with an MRSP of $449.99, making it cheaper than the MSI Wind.  However it's uncertain whether the Buddy will include a 3, 4 or 6-cell battery pack, and in fact the company does not mention battery life at all.
