AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 tipped to launch November, pricing and colors detailed

With all the hoopla surrounding Microsoft's purchase of Nokia's mobile business, leaks of an aborted Nokia Android smartphone, or talks of a Nokia Surface tablet, it might have been easy to forget another rumored Nokia device that is, to some extent, probably closer to reality. But now we're receiving details of the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet that's set to land on AT&T really soon.

Word of this Nokia "Bandit" smartphone first appeared in mid-August and pointed to some rather interesting specs, at least as far as a Windows Phone device is concerned. First of all, the Lumia 1520 is rumored to have a 6-inch display, making it the first phablet in the category. Furthermore, it is also said to sport a Full HD 1080p resolution, which is definitely a first considering all Windows Phone displays are capped at 720p. It will be sporting a 20 megapixel rear camera which, while no Lumia 1020, will still put it on par with current generation smartphones.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 was said to launch on AT&T first in September, although that date has slipped to October and now to November, with November 8 being thrown around as the final date. It is supposed to come in only four color options, including red, black, yellow, and white, although we've seen only the red and black options in leaked photos.

Pricing details are, of course, still in the air, but speculation puts the Nokia Lumia 1520 with a price tag of $699 without a contract. With a two-year contract, the smartphone could reach a price of $299, which isn't that far off from regular prices these days.

So far Nokia has been pretty silent about its next Windows Phone device, probably waiting for things to settle down regarding the Microsoft acquisition. It still remains to be seen how that business deal will affect the development, release, and marketing of this and other Nokia phones in the future.
