ATI Radeon 5700 desktop & 5000 notebook GPUs tipped for Q4

News of several graphics cards and notebook GPUs from AMD have leaked, courtesy of the usual shadowy DigiTimes sources.  According to the insiders, AMD plan to launch their ATI Radeon HD 5700 series desktop GPUs in October, in the shape of the Radeon HD 5770 and 5750, followed by the Radeon 5870 X2 (R800) in November.

Meanwhile the company is also tipped to be readying their ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000-series notebook GPUs, with four tiers catering for high-end, performance, mainstream and entry-level machines.  The Mobility Radeon HD 5800 will take care of the former, with the 5700, 5600 and 5400 following on accordingly.

The new chips will follow on from two upcoming announcements, claim the sources.  First, that AMD will debut their ATI Radeon HD 5850 and 5870 GPUs on September 22nd, and secondly that the company's new VISION branding – which attempts to classify AMD-based machines into different tiers of usability – will expand to include a VISION Black high-end category in Q1 2010.
