Atari Fit lets you play games like Centipede if you exercise enough

Do you want to play Centipede? Of course you want to play Centipede; everyone wants to play Centipede. You could download the Atari Greatest Hits app, but that offers in-app purchases for games. If you don't want to spend a few bucks, but do want to play Centipede (remember, everyone wants that), Atari will let you earn your games the old fashioned way. With Atari Fit, you get a pretty standard fitness app, but the more you work out, the more games you get!

Available for iOS, Atari Fit is possibly the most motivating fitness app for geeks we've ever seen. The more you workout, the more points you earn. Those points can be used to unlock games like Super Breakout, Pong, and — you guessed it — Centipede.

Atari Fit also works with Apple's HealthKit, and can be linked to your Fitbit or Jawbone. You can also connect the app to Runkeeper, if you like. In a strange but interesting partnership, Atari Fit will also reward you with Walgreens Balance Rewards "for participating in challenges that log steps taken".

There's even a multiplayer option, but not for games. You can join a workout group with anyone around the world, challenge each other with workouts, or just encourage one another along.

Once you and your workout pals eventually do unlock Centipede (which everyone wants to do, right?), Atari Fit has a worldwide leaderboard so you can see how you stack up against other players who have also unlocked Centipede.

The app is free to download, and while it offers no in-app purchases, you'll still have to work hard to get Centipede.

Update: You can also earn centipede via fitness on Android. Play Store search didn't show it to us before!
