AT&T revenues & subscribers up; 5.2m iPhones activated in Q3 2010

AT&T has announced its Q3 2010 financial performance, and revenues are up 2.8-percent from the  2009 to $31.6bn.  That number was helped both by a 2.6m increase in wireless subscribers over the three month period – taking AT&T to 92.8m altogether – as well as an increased average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) up 2-percent to $62.84.  Of course, the iPhone 4 gave AT&T a big boost, with the carrier activating 5.2m iPhones during the quarter.

Data revenue grew 30.5-percent over 2009's figures for the same quarter, with text messages up 34-percent to 161 billion and multimedia messages more than doubling, to 2.8 billion.  Meanwhile AT&T wireline revenues rose 0.2-percent, which is the company's first year-on-year increase in 24 months.
