ASUS X102BA ultraportable unveiled, 10-inch laptop for work and play

ASUS has just announced the X102BA, a new ultraportable that features a compact and lightweight design that lends itself well to any situation or location. But make no mistake, this laptop packs just enough power to make it not only useful for productivity but even for some gaming and entertainment as well.

The X102BA features a 10.1-inch display with a 1366x768 resolution, just enough for comfortable HD video viewing. The screen also features 10-point multi-touch capability with a 5 mm contact point, smaller than Microsoft's recommended 9 mm. This gives users the ability to make precise touch inputs, useful for drawing or painting applications.

At the heart of the laptop is a dual-core 1 GHz AMD A4-1200 APU or Accelerated Processing Unit. It's Radeon HD 8180 graphics chip delivers a combination of performance and energy efficiency that carries over not only to serious work but to entertainment as well. And ASUS' SonicMaster technology promises to give users a quality and immersive audio experience. The laptop also comes with the ASUS Splendid display technology for delivering bright and vibrant colors.

The ASUS X102BA comes with the usual features of ASUS' current generation of laptops, including WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0. The X102BA also sports a large multi-touch touchpad that supports Windows 8 gestures as well as a keyboard designed for comfortable typing. ASUS' Super Hybrid Engine II gives a smartphone or tablet experience with its "Instant On" feature, allowing users to start working instantly anytime anywhere.

ASUS has not yet released any pricing or availability information on the X102BA ultraportable. The company, however, says that laptop will come preinstalled with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 edition, giving users access to full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Note productivity software.
