ASUS VivoTab Note 8 leaked with Windows and active digitizer

Earlier this week, evidence surfaced on ASUS's website of a tablet referred to as model M80TA, something that was speculated as a possible small Transformer Book. This led to some digging around on the part of German website Mobile Geeks, which discovered the tablet is actually called the ASUS VivoTab Note 8, an 8-inch Windows-toting tablet and what would be a first in that form factor for the company.

If all the leaks are correct, the VivoTab Note 8 will be ASUS's first 8-inch Windows tablet, and will feature an active digitizer, making it especially appealing to artists and those who like to handwrite on their slates. Beyond that, it is anticipated the tablet will cost around $299 USD, which will make it cheaper than its larger Transformer Book T100 cousin.

The model is talked about on ASUS's own website via the Support section, and made a grander appearance, details and all, in an SAP presentation. It would seem the VivoTab Note 8 will work with the TransKeyboard, which is a nice wireless offering and would round out the input gap beyond using one's finger or the stylus (it isn't entirely clear if it is sold with a stylus, though it appears that way).

According to the leaks, the tablet will feature an Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail processor alongside a couple gigabytes of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage space. The tablet will reportedly come with Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student, as well, and will have a 15Whr battery, as well as the expected specs: Bluetooth and GPS, cameras front and back, and more. We'll keep you updated as more info surfaces.
