Asus Transformer Pad will get Android 4.2 update today in the US

If you're the proud owner of the Asus Transformer Pad TF300 Android tablet, a new update will be coming for you this week. Asus announced today that an update for the Android operating system on the tablet is available in the United States. The update brings the tablet to Android version 4.2.

This is the first tablet outside of Google's own Nexus series to get the Android 4.2 update. Asus says that the update is going out at no cost over the air starting today in the United States and the update will come to other regions. Exactly when those other regions will begin getting access to Android 4.2 is unknown.

Asus says that the update will come to other regions during March. The update brings enhancements for performance and stability. The update also promises to improve the user experience with new features and allow multiple user account logins.

Some of the new features that the update will bring include updates to App Locker, Virtual Keyboard, the Lock Screen, and the Setup Wizard applications. Owners of other Asus tablets such as the Transformer Pad Infinity, MeMO Pad Smart, and MeMO Pad will give an update to get Android 4.1 during Q2 2013.
