ASUS Strix Pro headset scowls at gamers

In case your current gaming headset isn't quite anthropomorphic enough, ASUS Republic of Gamers has introduced the Strix Pro gaming headset with a design based on the owl. The device was introduced at Computex today, with the company saying it will be introducing more products under the Strix brand in the future.

As you might have guessed, the name was derived from the ancient Greek and Roman word for "owl", and the entire design centers around that premise, including triangular eye-harboring ear cups and an angular wedged headband.

The Strix Pro headset features 60mm neodymium-magnet drivers alongside full-sized hexagonal ear cushions and noise-isolating tech that promises 90-percent environment noise filtering. The headset is platform-agnostic, compatible with PCs and Mac, the PS4, and various mobile gaming devices.

The frequency response is decent, ranging from 20Hz to 20kHz, while sensitivity falls at 98dB (the mic is rated at -40 +/- 3dB). How much the headphones will cost and when (and where) they'll be available hasn't yet been revealed, but we'll update you when we know more.
