ASUS Mini PC Nova Lite PX24 super-compact media center

It's not all Eee at Computex; ASUS have also unveiled a desktop PC bearing their own branding, the Mini PC Nova Lite PX24.  The company is calling it "the world's smallest high-definition PC", by virtue of its compact dimensions – 242 x 184 x 51mm – and separate ATI RV620 graphics card.  That's capable of outputting 1080i/1080p through the Nova Lite's HDMI and DVI ports.  Processing grunt is courtesy of an Intel Celeron 220 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Running Windows Vista Home Premium, the diminutive desktop comes with a choice of 160GB or 250GB 5,400rpm SATA-II hard-drives, a slot-load DVD drive, gigabit ethernet and WiFi b/g.  Both the optical drive eject and the power button are touch-sensitive, and there's an accompanying remote control for use with Vista's media center functionality.  Four USB ports are in place for expansion, but unlike many of these compact home entertainment systems there's no memory card slot for instant viewing of digital photos.

What the Nova Lite PX24 does have are built-in stereo speakers (or standard/optical outputs for plugging into a 5.1 surround system) and a neat stand for when you want an even smaller footprint.  ASUS claim the PX24 produces only 26db of noise in use.  No availability date or pricing details as yet.
