Asus Crosshair IV Formula and M4A89TD Pro mainboards get official

Asus is one of the biggest makers of computer hardware and the company has a full line of mainboards that run the gamut from high-end gamer and enthusiast boards to cheap offerings for mainstream users. The AMD Phenom II X6 6-core CPU has gone official now along with the AMF 890FX chipset.

Asus has unveiled a couple of its new mainboards officially that use the new 890FX chipset including the ROG Crosshair IV Formula and the Asus M4A89TD Pro mainboards. The Crosshair IV Formula has four PCI-E x16 slots for video cards and features Turbo Unlocker tech.

Turbo Unlocker adjusts the CPU core clock depending on the needs of the system and reduces the number of cores in use for ideal performance. Asus also unveiled the new M4A89TD Pro mainboard that is a cheaper alternative for enthusiasts featuring the same Turbo Unlocker features in a lower cost package. Both of the boards offer SATA 6Gb/s and have USB 3.0 ports.
