Asus crams NVIDIA GTX 460M into G53 and G73 gaming notebooks

NVIDIA pulled the wraps off its new Fermi-based mobile video cards not long ago and now Asus has announced that those new GPUs are finding their way into Asus gaming notebooks. The Asus Republic of Gamers G53 and G73 notebooks will both get the new Fermi-based GTX 460M video card.

The new GPU brings hardware optimization for DirectX 11 to the notebook mix and the discrete mobile video card has 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory. The GPU also supports 3D with the notebooks offering support for 3D gaming thanks to a display capable of 120 frames per second.

The Asus G53JW gets the new GPU and can be had with several Core i7, i5, or i3 CPUs, up to 8GB of RAM, and has a 15.6-inch screen with a 3D option. Storage is up to 750GB HDD or a 500GB SSD and the rig can be ordered with optional Blu-ray. The G73JW has the same options and only differs in screen size with a 17.3-inch screen.
