Apricorn debuts EZ Writer II ultra-portable DVD burner

If you have a netbook or ultraportable that lacks an optical drive that can be a big pain when you are on the road. There are a number of portable optical drives and burners on the market and one of the more compact ones if the new EZ Writer II from Apricorn.

The optical drive can burn dual layer DVDs and has an integrated USB cable. The little drive weighs 11.7 ounces, measures 0.84" H x 5.75 "W x 5.95" L, and can burn both CDs and DVDs. It gets the power it needs for the USB port on the computer, but a "Y" adapter is required.

That "Y" adapter means that it takes a pair of USB ports to power the optical drive. The drive ships with burning software called BurnAware and includes media playback software called VLC Media Player. You can pick the little EZ Writer II optical drive up for $79 and Apricorn is offering a $25 mail-in rebate that brings the price to $54.
