Apple updates iWork across iOS, Mac and iCloud

Apple has pushed out new versions of iWork for iOS, Mac, and the iCloud beta, addressing some of the common requests around its Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps. The updates include the ability to view and edit spreadsheets with an iPad or iPhone in landscape orientation, and being able to control remote Keynote presentations from the iOS version of the app.

There are also new presenter display options in Keynote for Mac, and a number of new transitions and builds to choose from, including color planes, confetti, and blinds. The pared-back interface also gets toolbar customization support, to address those users who have complained that their commonly-accessed features have been buried.

That customization is also present in Numbers for Mac, along with new tools for sorting multiple columns and row subsets. Pages for Mac gets new center and edge guides, as well as the UI enhancements.

In Pages for iOS, it's now possible to share documents via iCloud that are password-protected, which is a new feature enabled for the iWork for iCloud beta. That also gets new keyboard shortcuts for rotating, resizing, and repositioning objects, and easier access to seeing what documents others have shared.
