Apple Store down: New iPhone incoming

Little surprise, with Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" keynote set to kick off in around an hours time, but the Apple Store has gone down for maintenance. The Cupertino company is expected to announce at least one brand new iPhone in Cupertino, California this morning, and SlashGear is warming up the liveblog machine to bring you all the news as it breaks.

On the cards today could be the iPhone 4S, an evolutionary update of the existing smartphone with a dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera and more RAM, or it might be the iPhone 5, a far more distinctive refresh with a broader, flatter aluminum chassis. Check out all the rumors – together with a rundown of what's likely and what's not – in our full rumor roundup.

The Apple Store going offline does indicate that sales – either of pre-orders or actual shipping devices – may well be kicking off today. Head on over to live.slashgear.com for all the details, and don't forget to let us know exactly what might make you pick up a new iPhone!
