Apple reportedly to ship lesser-priced iPhone 5C to China Mobile

Following shortly after iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C advertisements made a brief appearance on China Telecom's Weibo account, the folks over at The Wall Street Journal have revealed that Apple plans to send iPhone 5C models to China Mobile. Such is the claim of sources who spoke to the media company, with those same individuals confirming the September 10 event launch.

Although the sources could not confirm whether a paper-and-ink deal betwixt the two companies has taken place, as the WSJ notes, shipping iPhones to the carrier is certainly indicative of such a business partnership. Such a move, assuming it pans out, would be a big one for Apple, with China Mobile representing a huge market.

The order to ship the less-expensive iPhone model to China Mobile has been submitted to Foxconn, says the sources, but it isn't know when the carrier is set to receive them. This comes after many months of talk between the two companies. Last year, for example, we reported on word that China Mobile was in talks with Apple about carrying the iPhone, something that hadn't worked out at the time.

All the evidence points towards this being a solid leak, and fortunately we won't have to wait very long to find out either way, with the Apple event being only a few days away at this point. In the meantime, you can check out the myriad of information that we've seen surface regarding the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in the timeline below, as well as by checking out our iPhone 5 web portal.
