Apple Mac App Store to Sell iWork & iLife 11 Applications Separately

Yesterday, as it tends to happen on an Apple announcement day, was focused on what the Cupertino-based company has coming down the pipe. There was a main focus on iLife 11, showcasing its three updated applications and all of their features, which includes iMovie 11, GarageBand 11, and iPhoto 11. But, it looks like Apple is also going to let those shopping through the Mac App Store to pick and choose which applications they want, without having to get the full bundle.

Thanks to some promotional screenshots of the upcoming Mac App Store, it's more than obvious that Apple is intending on selling a la carte applications from the larger iLife 11 bundle. And, while they may not look to be all that cheap (not that anyone really should have expected them to be), they're still running cheaper individually than you'd even pay for the full iLife 11 bundle. At $14.99 a piece, the total price for all three applications would be $45, which is four dollars less than the $49 that Apple is offering iLife 11.

Even more interesting, is the inclusion of iWork applications. The productivity suite is also being showcased in the promotional shots, with the three main apps of that bundle –Pages, Numbers, and Keynote– going for a costly $19.99 each. That's $5 higher than the apps for iLife 11, but is still an overall less cost individually for applications than getting the full bundle, as the iWork bundle goes for $79. Of course, if you get yourself a new MacBook Air, you'll get iLife 11 for free.
